Reunion Weekend 2009 Draws Alumni From Over 50 Saint Anselm Classes
June 8, 2009
Weeks after graduating the class of 2009 into its alumni body, Saint Anselm College welcomed back over 700 alumni from over 50 classes for Reunion Weekend — from as far as south as Florida, north as Ontario, West as Washington state, and near as Goffstown, N.H.
In recognition of their 50th reunion, the class of 1959 was inducted into the Order of Golden Anselmians, joining the most distinguished ranks of the college’s graduates. On Saturday, the class of 1984 was welcomed into Silver status, commemorating their 25th reunion.
True to the weekend’s beach theme, the sunny sky was near cloudless and temperatures were in the 70s. Some chose to spend Saturday afternoon golfing at courses nearby, while others stayed on campus for trolley tours of campus and opportunities to catch up with friends.
For many, this weekend was a first opportunity to see inside Joseph Hall, recently renovated to house classrooms and faculty offices, and the new Carr Center Fitness gym, with almost 80 machines and 7,000 pounds of weights. Some remember Joseph Hall as the convent for the Saint Joan of Arc sisters; others remember it as the first monastery outside of Alumni Hall.
The alumni represented graduating classes from 1937 to 2004, including almost 200 Golden Anselmians.
