She has reported for InterPress Service (1989-1999), and contributed opinion and news to several publications including The New York Times, The Observer (London), Ms. Magazine, and Indian newspapers. She is considered a leading feminist in Pakistan. Sawar is currently a Neiman Fellow at Harvard University.
